A NEW Audiobook from Flying Pig Audio
Available October 12th
When a published story about a sensitive subject becomes both more real and more gentle stigma recedes. Its healing message becomes more approachable, more receivable and therefore stronger. How? through the artistry of voice, sound and music, as a print book comes to life with an audio sibling. The intimacy of listening and the dimension of sound infuses beauty into gravity; transforms seriousness into pleasure and ultimately delivers hope.
Words Make a Way Through Fire: Healing After My Brother’s Suicide is now an audiobook. Author Cyra Sweet Dumitru voices her memoir of narrative prose, poetry, dream sequences, journal entries. This story takes us on the journey of how the writing process helped Cyra after bearing traumatic witness to her eldest brother’s suicide when she was sixteen.
Local audiobook producer Michelle Redo jumped into the second creative process of finding a way of giving listeners sonic cues to represent visual elements like italics, pagination, line breaks, block indents and most of all, poetry in the creation of this new audiobook. Thus was born the collaboration with cellist Ben Noyes, who created original soundscapes for the poetry in the book.
Initially published as a traditional book through She Writes Press, the award-winning memoir is now also available as an audiobook produced by Michelle Redo at Flying Pig Audio.
