Submission Guidelines

Before submitting your pitch:

  • Be familiar with season one’s episode format.

  • Stories must be first-person non-fiction.

  • Stories must be personal in nature.

  • Original work is preferred. But work published in print will be considered.

  • Areas of interest include family, health, personal hardships, loss, bad news, good news, willingness to change, unwillingness to change, life transitions or transformations either undertaken by choice or imposed upon us. Of particular interest this season are stories about grandmothers.

Ultimately, the writer had to have some challenge undertaken and now is Daring to Tell. To speak that lived experience.

In the email body please outline and send:

1) Very short (50 word) story promo/tease

2) Short (150 word) personal bio

3) Your essay or memoir chapter submission, in completion. There is no word count requirement, but most pieces will be somewhere between 1k-5k words (or roughly 10-30 minutes when read aloud).

All three elements must be in the email body. No attachments.

Submit via the contact page.

I’m unable to respond to all submissions and will contact you if I’m interested in pursuing your submission as part of Daring to Tell’s Season Two. Thank you for your desire to share your story!
